History & Lineage

HISTORY OF THE ORIGINAL BLACK PANTHER PARTY

The Black Panther Party for Self Defense began in the year of 1966 in Oakland, California by Dr. Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale. A chapter of The Black Panther Party was established in Milwaukee, WI a few years later with the permission and blessing of the Black Panther Party for Self Defense.  The Milwaukee chapter had a few internal issues and had to shut down in 1969.  Ronald Starks and Michael McGee Sr. resubmitted paperwork and were successfully able to reestablish the Black Panther Party for Self Defense in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1973. The Milwaukee Chapter had some major successes that included:

  • A childcare facility that was established to bring aid to many families who could not afford childcare services.
  • In 1972 a free bussing to prison program was created, making it possible for families to go see their loved ones who were imprisoned.
  • The Peoples Free Health Center originated in Milwaukee. This facility helped to educate the community on health issues while providing various health screenings.

In 1982, The Black Panther Party for Self Defense dissolved and was pushed underground all across America due to the F.B.I and COINTELPRO.   Michael McGee Sr. started the Black Panther Militia in 1989 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Darryl “King Rick” Farmer was the bodyguard and top general to McGee. Since the early age of 10 years old, King Rick was bred into the Panther lifestyle as a Panther Cub. Michael McGee Sr. retired his boots in 1998. Darryl “King Rick” Farmer would later on still feel a yearning desire to help the Black Community. On January 1st, 2015, he started The Original Black Panthers. The Original Black Panthers provide safety from oppression, injustice, inequality, and racism to the Black Community. Some major successes include, but are not limited to:

  • Ridding the usage of legal lean within the city of Milwaukee
  • ACT and SAT preparation programs and tutoring • College tuition payment for a young adult in the community
  • Confronted doctors, police officers, and businesses who have mistreated those within the Black Community.
  • Worked with Harley Davidson to stop collaborating with DENCO MFG for one of its white employees creating a noose and asking a black employee to put it around his neck.

In July 2018, Mike Pain submitted paperwork to begin a chapter in the Commonwealth State that would soon be known as The Original Black Panthers of Virginia. With the blessing of King Rick and the approval of elders such as Michael McGee Sr. and Carl F. Williams, General Pain thrived, superseding each and every expectation with the work that he was continuously putting into the community.

  • OBPVA began the Free Food Program which fed over 200 families per month in the Hampton Roads area.
  • They put a stop to the foul play of slave games at Madison Trust Elementary School and demanded a letter of inspection from Sherwood Forest Elementary School showing proof that it was free of rodent infestation and mold.
  • Under General Mike Pain, OBPVA provided security for high profile events across the 757. Including leading and securing a protest of over 2500 people after the vicious murder of George Floyd.
  • They cleaned racial hate speech off of a historic bridge where black people were hanged.
  • OBPVA initiated the Collective Consciousness Weekend Enhancement Program that taught kids skills tapping into the arts, history, banking, and economics.

Seeing the diligent work done by General Mike Pain, Darryl “King Rick” Farmer soon promoted General Pain to National General and 2nd in Command. His duties consisted of spearheading the initial development of OBP chapters across the USA and internationally. Chapters of the Original Black Panthers had been forming and continue to form all across the world directly under the leadership of General Pain and General King Rick.

On July 18th , 2021, revolutionary history was made once again. King Rick retired and passed the torch to his “Sun” General Mike Pain, making him The Leader of The Original Black Panthers.  Soon after becoming the leader, General Mike Pain wanted to make an impacting change to the organization. He changed the name to The Original Black Panther Militia, paying homage and respect to Alderman Michael McGee Sr. Due to social media’s hate for the word “militia”, General Pain chose to change the name one final time to The Original Black Panther Party as a way to get the word out to the masses about the work that was being done within the community.   Chapters of The Original Black Panther Party have been forming all across the world directly under the leadership of General Mike Pain.  This organization continues to pay homage to the lineage and pay respect to those who paved the way.
